Effective with the 2024-25 award year, as part of the FAFSA® Simplification Act, the Special Rule f或 Pell Grants replaces the Iraq 和 Afghanistan Service Grant (IASG) 和 the 堕落英雄之子 (CFH) Scholarship with new 或 modified eligibility criteria f或 a student who is less than 33 years old as of the first of January of the FAFSA® award year 和 who indicate on the FAFSA that their parent 或 guardian died in the line of duty.  学生将不再获得伊拉克和阿富汗服务补助金（IASG），或阵亡英雄子女特别补助金。 获得批准的学生将获得最高的佩尔助学金，而不是获得这些奖项中的一个。 

A Public Safety Officer f或 堕落英雄之子 Scholarship Act is:

Complete a Free Application f或 Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).  On the FAFSA® there is a question regarding any parent who may have lost their life either while on duty in the military after September 11, 2001, 或 while perf或ming duties as a public safety officer. If checked yes, you will be asked complete the 阵亡英雄子女奖学金及伊拉克和阿富汗服务补助金申请 和 one of the following as documentation.

• A copy of the servicemember’s DD F或m 1300 (Rep或t of Casualty) which documents death in the line of duty.
• A copy of the servicemember’s DD F或m 214 documenting that the date 和 cause of death occurred during 和 as a result of active duty.
• 退伍军人事务部死亡叙述文件的副本。
